Can your school win a 2018 ARCHITECT Studio Prize? Learn how.

Once again, Sloan challenges North American architecture and design schools to reimagine what materials and space can do.

We’re thrilled to announce the third annual Studio Prize competition.

Sloan is the exclusive sponsor of the ARCHITECT magazine Studio Prize for thoughtful, innovative and ethical studio courses at accredited architecture schools. Sloan is offering $20,000 in prize money for this year’s winning studio courses, plus the $5,000 Sloan Award to recognize studios focusing on sustainability, specifically water conservation.

Why? Because every day we help today’s architects and designers build commercial restrooms with beautiful, smart, sustainable, water-efficient products. We offer the tools and education resources architects need because, as part of the architecture and design community, we believe it’s important to invest in tomorrow’s visionaries, too.

If you believe your studio course showcases the work of tomorrow’s most brilliant architects, read on!

2017 Studio Prize winners — a dazzling glimpse into the future

Last year, we asked professors and deans of architecture schools to submit the most outstanding student work they’d seen, and they did not disappoint. Out of over 150 submissions from more than 100 universities, these projects dazzled the judges and became Studio Prize winners:

The 2017 Sloan Award went to Toronto Ravine Re-Create, from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto.

This studio of architecture and urban design students explored ways to make Toronto’s rivers and ravines living, dynamic systems within the city. They analyzed the river systems through mapping, hydrogeological studies and modeling, and developed truly innovative ideas about the environmental, social, infrastructural and economic roles waterways can play in broader civic life.

We believe projects like this one point to a more sustainable future — one where water is honored and protected as the vital resource it is.
