Take your plumbing specifications back to school with our new CEU course.

High-traffic sustainability “labs”

Every school building from kindergarten to college features several high-traffic commercial restrooms, experiencing hundreds of visits a day. And each of these bathrooms is like a mini-laboratory in durability, hygiene, accessibility and sustainability.

  • Durability. Can your faucets stand up to rowdy middle-schoolers? Can your toilets avoid clogs? And should you specify diaphragm or piston flushometers?
  • Hygiene. Kids spread germs. How can sensor-activated, hands-free fixtures (flushometers, faucets, soap dispensers and hand dryers) keep more students healthier?

Water savings for cost manageability

Most school districts have very limited budgets and resources, so it’s not surprising that they often pursue the lowest-cost alternatives when building a new school or renovating an existing school. That often means architects are forced to specify low-tech manual plumbing fixtures.

Lower long-term costs, however, can offset a higher initial investment. With the cost of water rising faster than any other utility service, this CEU course will show you how to achieve the long-term benefits of water-saving bathroom fixtures:

  • Sensor faucets can use as much as 40% less water—and they inhibit the spread of germs.
  • Waterfree urinals and hybrid urinals require no water for flushing and very little to maintain, yet they remain clean and odorless.
  • High-efficiency flushometers save water with every flush, and the dual-flush UPPERCUT® even helps kids learn how to conserve water by pulling up for liquid waste and pushing down for solid waste.
