Sloan Faucets Exceed Safe Drinking Water Requirements

Franklin Park, IL —

November 16, 2023

Sloan, the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing systems, has announced that it now offers the largest selection of 689 infrared (IR) sensor faucets that exceed the mandatory NSF 61 and California AB 100 certification requirements for safe drinking water. Sloan has added these third-party certifications without making any changes to the products themselves.

“As a leader in the plumbing industry, it’s critical that Sloan is at the forefront of certification requirements for clean, safe drinking water,” said Morgan Kish, Sloan Senior Product Line Manager – Faucets, Soap Dispensers, Sinks, and Showerheads. “We are proud to offer the most extensive line of NSF 61- and AB100-compliant sensor faucets in the market today.”

While Sloan faucets are exempt from both NSF 61 and AB100 standards because they are installed in commercial restrooms and are not specifically intended to dispense water for human consumption, Sloan chose to add this certification to its faucets as it shares the mission of providing safe drinking water.

Packaging will be updated to include this certification identification on a rolling basis, and all spec sheets have been updated to identify this certification.

NSF 61 is an American National Standard that establishes minimum health-effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components, and materials used in drinking water systems. The standard is routinely monitored and updated by a joint committee comprised of equal parts public health experts, end users, and industry members.

Passed in 2021, California Assembly Bill 100 prohibits a person from manufacturing, and offering for sale in the state, an endpoint device that does not meet a certain lead leaching standard.
