Why Carbon Neutral Restroom Design Matters—and How Sloan Helps
April 16, 2026

Your organization’s carbon footprint is more important now than ever.
There are two reasons why. The first is that carbon emissions are raising atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) to record levels, and that the warming effect of greenhouse gases such as CO2 may soon trigger catastrophic impacts on the planet.
The second reason is that people are deeply concerned about these impacts and prefer to do business with organizations that actively work to reduce their carbon emissions.
At Sloan, we recognize that our responsibility to take care of our planet includes a variety of strategies to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint. Now, we’re sharing many details of our Carbon Neutral program in a new, free eBook.
Carbon Emissions are Nearing a Point of No Return
The most recent statistics about carbon emissions and climate change are alarming.
2024 was likely the first calendar year to be more than 1.5°C above the pre-industrial era—the warmest year in the 175-year observational record.1
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration measured 429.35 ppm of atmospheric CO2 at Mauna Loa in February 2026, up from 427.09 ppm (0.5%) in February 2025.2
To maintain the same global temperatures we have now, the UN estimates we need to cut annual CO2 emissions by 35% by 2030 and 55% by 2035.3
With the atmosphere still accumulating CO2 and the planet already experiencing sustained record warmth, carbon neutrality is needed right now to begin reversing the trend and limit long-term damage to the Earth’s physical systems.
Carbon Neutrality Gives You a Competitive Edge
Carbon neutrality isn’t just good science—it’s good business. People are keenly aware of the threat posed by carbon emissions and are making their voices heard with how they shop and where they choose to work.
67% of consumers see lack of sustainability as a reason to switch retailers, and 38% would pay up to 5% more for sustainable products.4
23% of Gen Zs and millennials say they research a company’s environmental impact before accepting a job from them.5
These findings make it clear: Carbon neutrality gives you a competitive edge. Your customers and your future employees will appreciate your firm, meaningful, and visible commitment to carbon neutrality.
How Sloan Reduces Carbon
At Sloan, we make carbon reduction a top priority, and we help our customers do so as well.
We implement carbon reduction strategies across our enterprise to reduce our carbon footprint. And to actively offset the embodied carbon in our products, we partner with Climate Vault to purchase emission allowances—neutralizing our footprint and helping fund carbon removal projects around the world.
To help you make carbon neutral choices, we document the cradle-to-grave life cycle of every Sloan product—including fabrication, maintenance, water use, and ultimate disposal—and offer hundreds of products that are carbon neutral.
It’s our goal to be your partner in carbon neutrality.
