Lokhandwala Foundation School

The Comprehensive Challenge
In the 1990s, the Lokhandwala Foundation School had a limited number of students. As the numbers kept rising, the old facilities proved inadequate. Accordingly, the school shifted to larger premises. Within years in the new building, however, the total student count reached 2,880. Consequently, the volume of washroom users rose sharply. Moreover, during pockets of peak usage, the washrooms’ utilisation was heavy. These were times between 9:15 AM to 9:40 AM, 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM, 1:30 PM to 1:55 PM, and in the late afternoon between 3:45 PM to 4:00 PM.

It was during these peak hours that a robust system of faucets, flush valves, and other washroom fixtures was required to handle the user load efficiently. Additionally, it was important to prevent water spillage, overflow, or leakage that could result in students, teachers, or other users to slip and fall, resulting in injury.

With the washrooms being separated between students, faculty, and backend staff, safety elements were required for each type of user. Also, products installed in the washrooms needed to offer high performance along with low maintenance costs while being aesthetically attractive.

Considering these needs, Sloan installed state-of-the-art washroom systems that would be robust, bespoke, and pleasing to the eye.
